Well, God bless you! It’s a joy to come into your homes. If you’re ever in our area, please stop by and be a part of one of our services. I promise we’ll make you feel right at home.
I like to start with something funny. I heard about a scientist who said to God, “We’ve decided we no longer need You. We can clone people, transplant hearts, and do all kinds of things once considered miraculous.”
God said, “Fine, but to prove you don’t need Me, let’s have a man-making contest. The only requirement is you have to make man out of dirt.”
The scientist said, “Great,” and reached down to pick up a handful of dirt.
God said, “Not so fast. Go get your own dirt.”
Say it like you mean it:
This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. Today, I will be taught the Word of God. I boldly confess: my mind is alert, my heart is receptive. I will never be the same, in Jesus’ name. God bless you.
Letting Others Define You
I want to talk to you today about changing your name. It’s easy to go through life letting people put names on us: average, unqualified, poor, addicted. Sometimes, our own thoughts label us: not talented, not good enough, unattractive.
As long as we wear these names, believing the lies people and circumstances have told us, we limit our potential. You have to change your name—not the one on your birth certificate, but the one in your mind.
Who do you believe you are? How do you see yourself? When God breathed life into you, He named you blessed, prosperous, talented, one of a kind. He calls you a masterpiece. But if you accept the names people give you—average, ordinary, nothing special—that’s exactly what you’ll become.
The Power of Names
I heard a story about a man walking down a busy street in Thailand who noticed a tattoo shop. In the window, one of the tattoos read, Born to Lose. He asked the owner, “Does anyone actually get that tattooed on them?” The owner nodded and replied in broken English, “Before tattooed on body, tattooed on mind.”
That’s exactly right. If you accept the negative names in your mind—born to lose, poor, addicted, struggling—you give them the power to come to pass.
In the Bible, Jacob’s wife, Rachel, died giving birth to her son. In her pain, she named the baby Benoni, meaning son of my sorrow. Imagine the weight of carrying that name through life. But Jacob refused to accept it. He said, “No, his name will not be Benoni. His name will be Benjamin,” which means son of strength, son of power.
That one name change transformed his destiny. Benjamin went on to become a great leader. Out of his lineage came kings of Israel, fulfilling God’s plan.
God’s Names for You
Like Benjamin, you may have had someone name you—average, unqualified, unattractive. But God is saying to you: “I’m changing your name.”
As Isaiah 62:2-3 declares:
No more son of sorrow, no more not good enough. God is renaming you:
- Son of strength
- Daughter of destiny
- Child of greatness
You have to let go of the old names. The enemy would love for you to live as the son of sorrow, when God calls you the son of strength.
Seeing Yourself Through God’s Eyes
Sometimes, people label us based on their own limited vision. David’s father saw him as just a shepherd boy. But God saw him as a giant killer, a history maker, and the future king of Israel.
One man I know believed he was below average because a high school counselor told him so. For years, he accepted that name. But later in life, he took an IQ test and scored at the genius level. That realization broke the stronghold of lies, and he started seeing himself as God saw him: talented, capable, and brilliant.
You can’t stop people from saying negative things, but you don’t have to answer to them. When thoughts whisper, “Hello, fearful. Hello, insecure,” respond:
“You must have the wrong address. I am confident. I am secure. I am victorious.”
Accept the Name Change
Abraham and Sarah didn’t feel like father of many nations or princess, but God renamed them to align with His promise. They accepted the names, and over time, the promises came to pass.
God may be changing your name today. From:
- Struggle to blessed.
- Lack to abundant.
- Defeated to victorious.
Keep calling yourself what God calls you, even when it doesn’t make sense. Declare:
“I am blessed. I am talented. I am healthy. I am free.”
God Has the Final Say
In Luke 1, an angel told Zechariah to name his son John, but others wanted to name him Zechariah, after his father. Zechariah wrote on a tablet, “His name is John,” and immediately, his speech returned.
The principle is clear: only your Heavenly Father has the right to name you. Don’t let they define you. People may call you average, but God calls you a masterpiece.
Step Into Your Destiny
You were created with seeds of greatness. God has already equipped, empowered, and crowned you with favor. Your assignment is too important to wear names like inferior, average, or mediocre.
Accept the name change. Keep calling yourself what God calls you:
- Blessed
- Prosperous
- Forgiven
- Talented
- One of a kind
If you’ll do this, I believe and declare that strongholds will break, favor and restoration will find you, and you’ll step into the fullness of your destiny.
Pray This Prayer
If you’ve never made Jesus the Lord of your life, I want to give you that opportunity now.
Just say:
“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. Come into my heart. I make You my Lord and Savior.”
If you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you’ve been born again. Find a good Bible-based church and keep God first place.
God bless you!
